PM Fasal Bima Yojana: Kharif 2025 Registration Open, Farmers Urged to Enroll by July 31

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) is a flagship crop insurance scheme that safeguards farmers against crop loss due to natural calamities, pests, and diseases. For Kharif 2025, eligible farmers must enroll by July 31 to secure their crops.

PM Fasal Bima Yojana: Farmers in Uttar Pradesh have a significant opportunity to protect their Kharif crops under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the 2025 season. The deadline for registration is July 31, 2025. This scheme offers financial protection against crop losses caused by natural disasters, pests, and diseases.

What is PMFBY?

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, launched in 2016, is a flagship crop insurance scheme by the Government of India. It aims to support farmers by covering crop losses and ensuring financial stability during agricultural uncertainties. The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in partnership with state governments and insurance companies.

Under PMFBY, farmers pay a nominal premium:

  • 2% for Kharif crops

  • 1.5% for Rabi crops

  • 5% for commercial/horticultural crops

The remaining premium is subsidized by the government.

Eligible Crops in Uttar Pradesh for Kharif 2025

Farmers in UP can insure the following crops this Kharif season:

Pulses

Oilseeds

Paddy

Arhar

Soybean

Maize

Urad

Groundnut

Jowar

Moong

Sesame

Bajra

   

This diverse crop coverage ensures wide protection across various soil and climatic conditions in the state.

Who Can Apply?

Both loanee and non-loanee farmers are eligible to enroll:

  • Loanee farmers (who have taken seasonal crop loans) are automatically enrolled unless they opt out.

  • Non-loanee farmers must register themselves before the deadline.

Required documents

  • Aadhaar Card

  • Bank Passbook

  • Land Ownership Records (Khatauni)

  • Sowing Declaration (crop and area)

How to Apply for PMFBY

Farmers can enroll through multiple platforms:

  1. Online via pmfby.gov.in

  2. Mobile App: Use the official Crop Insurance App

  3. WhatsApp Chatbot: Send a message to 7065514447

  4. Helpline: Call 14447 for assistance in local languages

  5. Offline: Farmers can also apply offline by visiting Common Service Centres (CSCs), designated bank branches, or Agriculture Department offices.

The last date for registration under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana for Kharif 2025 is 31 July 2025, and farmers are advised to complete their enrollment well before the deadline. In case of any crop damage, it must be reported within 72 hours of occurrence to ensure timely processing of claims. The claim settlement process is carried out based on field assessments and advanced remote sensing technologies. To avoid any delays or rejection of claims, farmers must ensure that they provide accurate and complete information at the time of registration.
