Among many profitable government schemes of the Modi government, there is one scheme that focuses on providing housing to all the people. Yes! We are talking about Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). In the 56th meeting of the Central Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee (CSMC) of PM Awas Yojana, the proposal for the construction of 3.61 lakh houses in urban areas has been approved.
The meeting was presided by Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, and Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs. He raised issues related to the States & Union Territories regarding the construction of houses. He asked the states & union territories to resolve issues without delay so that the construction of houses can be speed up soon.
Total Number of Approved Houses is 1.14 Crore

The construction of PMAY-U houses is in various stages.

The total number of houses sanctioned under the mission now stands at 1.14 crore.

Out of these, more than 89 lakh houses are under construction & 52.5 lakh houses have been completed and distributed to the beneficiaries.

The total investment under this mission is Rs 7.52 lakh crore with central assistance of Rs 1.85 lakh crore.

An amount of Rs 1.13 lakh crore has been released so far.

The Secretary stressed expediting the completion of housing construction work across the country within the stipulated time under PMAY so that the target of 'Housing for All' can be achieved by the year 2022.
