Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day highlighted the government's progressive initiatives, particularly its collaboration with Women's Self-Help Groups (SHGs) aimed at uplifting rural communities.
The Prime Minister's address centered on the transformative goal of empowering two crores 'Lakhpati Didis' (prosperous sisters) in villages through these efforts.
Emphasizing the magnitude of this initiative, the Prime Minister underscored that presently, a remarkable ten crore women are actively engaged with Women's Self-Help Groups across the nation. He noted that these groups have significantly expanded their presence, with women now contributing to roles as diverse as banking, Anganwadi (childcare and mother care centers), and healthcare providers.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also advocated for the integration of agricultural technology, or agri-tech, into rural development strategies. He urged the nation to harness the immense potential of science and technology to drive progress in rural areas.
To exemplify this vision, he announced a compelling scheme wherein 15,000 Women's Self-Help Groups will receive training and financial support to operate and maintain drones. This initiative, aptly named "Drone ki Udaan" (Flight of the Drone), is set to be executed by these SHGs, further empowering them as agents of technological advancement.
In essence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day address echoed the government's commitment to women's empowerment, rural development, and technological innovation.
By envisioning a future where rural women lead and drive transformation, he laid out a path towards inclusive growth and prosperity, aligning with the aspirations of a modern, self-reliant India.
