The nomination period for the prestigious Padma Awards 2025 has officially commenced as of May 1, 2024. The Padma Awards, celebrated on Republic Day each year, are among India's highest civilian honors, recognizing extraordinary contributions across various fields. Nominations will remain open until September 15, 2024, and can be submitted online via the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal at https://awards.gov.in.
Established in 1954, the Padma Awards encompass the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, which honor exceptional achievements in diverse disciplines such as Art, Literature, Education, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Science, Engineering, Public Affairs, Civil Service, and Trade and Industry. These awards are open to all citizens, regardless of race, occupation, position, or gender, with the exception of government servants (excluding doctors and scientists) and those working in public sector units.
This year, the government aims to transform the Padma Awards into a truly "People's Padma." Citizens are encouraged to participate by nominating individuals who have made remarkable contributions, particularly from underrepresented groups including women, SCs, STs, and persons with disabilities.
To ensure a thorough and impactful nomination, submissions must include a detailed citation (up to 800 words) that highlights the nominee's distinguished achievements in their respective field.
