A one-year certificate course supported by the Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC) will be launched on the occasion. The second floor of the College of Agriculture will be inaugurated on the occasion of the 62nd Foundation Day of the University. It has a floor area of 50,000 sq. ft., which will be useful to accommodate the expanded number of students & and faculties and facilitate teaching & and research activities.

The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), established on August 24, 1962, as the second agricultural University of the country, progresses with triple mandates of teaching, research, and extension education in agriculture and allied areas. OUAT is the lone public-funded farm University of Odisha.

Complete digitization of academic activities has been accomplished through the implementation of the Academic Management System with support from ICAR has brought transparency and timeliness to the academic ecosphere

The government of Odisha has sanctioned the creation of 194 positions consisting of 114 teaching small groups and 80 non-teaching teams in various colleges of Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, and Community Science for supplementing teaching and supporting staff requirements

Collaboration with national and international organizations has been strengthened to enrich the academic, research, and extension activities

The University has so far developed 191 high-yielding varieties of various crops. During the current year, there are 21 varieties of various crops released by the University

Maize Satellite Centre has been established at Umerkote in Nawarangpur district, Odisha to develop maize production technology suitable for the area

The University has obtained the license for the production and marketing of bio-fertilizer. During the current year, 4000 litre of PSB and 1000 litre of Rhizobium under the brand of “OUAT Kalinga” are ready to be sold to the Government of Odisha

The OUAT Health Centre has been strengthened with the re-initiation of facilities for Physiotherapy; Nutrition & Child Care Patho-lab and Ambulance Services. It is now functioning in the name of OUAT Wellness Centre

A World Bank assisted project, Rejuvenating Watersheds for Agricultural Resilience through Innovative Development (REWARD) with funding support from the Directorate of Soil Conservation and Watershed Development, Odisha, Bhubaneswar is operating in the state with OUAT as its scientific partner

OUAT’s project on “Capacity Building, Skilling, Agro-Enterprises and Entrepreneurship Development in the Mineral Bearing Districts of Odisha” is financially supported by OMBADC and is operating in seven districts of the state.
