The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) is one of India's oldest agricultural universities. Many major steps are taken by OUAT for agricultural development. This time, the institute will host a two-day farmers’ fair in Bhubaneswar on February 27-28. Krishi Jagran is the media partner for this 2-day fair.
OUAT has expanded its research and extension capabilities by establishing eight Zonal Research Stations, four Zonal Sub-stations, seven Commodity Research Stations, and thirteen Adaptive Research Stations across the state, in addition to 48 All India Coordinated Research Projects.
The university has a separate Directorate of Extension Education that refines technologies and disseminates knowledge to the farming community through a network of 31 KVKs located in all districts of Odisha and categorized by agro-climatic zone. It also feeds back to the research system in order to find a solution to the farmer's problems.
Ahead of the fair, MC Dominic, Editor and Chief of Krishi Jagran, and his team visited the campus of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), where they met Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice Chancellor of OUAT, and discussed the preparations of the fair.
MC Dominic also attended the review meeting, which was held in preparation for the OUAT Farmers’ Fair. Pravat Kumar Raul informed that he has been working in this institute for the past 29 years and is playing their best role in the agriculture sector.
The main purpose of this fair is to facilitate the most recent agricultural developments and industry best practices, as well as to bring together various Agri Start-ups, Cooperatives, and FPOs under one roof to expedite their business outreach.
The Kisan Mela will be attended by farmers, agri entrepreneurs, FPOs, the agriculture & allied departments, ICAR institutes, and public and private seed agencies.
