On the opening day of the OUAT Farmers' Fair 2023 hosted by Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, heavy footfall of farmers and those associated with the agri domain was witnessed on Monday, February 27 in Bhubaneshwar.
In addition to the inaugural session, the Day 1 of the event featured two stages of technical sessions for the participating farmers and other industry professionals.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Odisha Agricultural and Technical University in the presence of departmental officials to advance agricultural research and extension.
The 'achiever farmers' were facilitated by Pravat Kumar Roul, vice chancellor of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, for their major contributions to the agricultural sector.
Addressing the event, Prof Roul stated, "This kind of Farmer's Exhibition will help upgrade Farmer's farming concepts and income sources" while stressing the necessity of enhancing farmers' conditions and the significance of having exhibitions like OUAT's.
Moreover, several agri and allied groups exhibited their goods at the stalls in the event. The Department of Education, the Directorate of Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil Conservation, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, the Government of Odisha, Agricultural Research Organizations such as CIFA, NRRI, CIWA, CHES, CTCRI, private seed organisations, and agricultural machinery manufacturing companies are among the few of the notable ones on the list of participants.
The fair which primarily focuses on seeds, tissue culture plantlets, poultry, biofertilisers, vermicompost, and more, witnessed heavy participation of farmers, farm women, agri-entrepreneurs, FPOs, agriculture & allied departments, and various ICAR institutes.
Farmers attending the fair had the opportunity to network with business leaders and learn about the most recent scientific and technological breakthroughs, as well as sustainable farming practises.
