Orange alert issued

MP, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan are under an "orange" alert. The MeT department releases four color-coded forecasts based on the current weather systems. Green implies there is no warning, yellow means keep an eye out, orange means be on the lookout, and red means there is a warning and that action is required.

"The well-defined area of low pressure existed over southeast Madhya Pradesh. In the next 48 hours, it will proceed through Madhya Pradesh, an IMD official said on Monday. Since Sunday, Castle Rock (172mm), Kumta (148mm), Digha (114mm), Sawantwadi (98mm), Simla (90mm), Nagpur (83mm), Dimapur (81mm), and Mawsynram have all had significant rains (71mm).

In the next few days, as the system continues to travel west-northwest, more rain will fall over eastern Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Rajasthan reported 553.5mm, a numerical 34% surplus for the season. This was mostly caused by the fact that practically all prior low-pressure systems had already reached this arid region.

The monsoon will continue to be busy over the southern peninsula because the monsoon trough is now running south of where it should be. In addition, cyclonic circulation continues off the coast of Maharashtra and Goa.
