Now You Can Easily Update Your Name in Aadhaar Card and Pan Card; Know How?

The 12-digit number issued by UIDAI to citizens in the country is called Aadhaar number and is mainly used in banks, income tax identification, and public distribution system. It also acts as an address and ID proof. Whereas, the PAN card is a unique 10-digit identification number.

The 12-digit number issued by UIDAI to citizens in the country is known as Aadhaar number and it is mainly used in banks, income tax identification, and public distribution system. It also acts as an address and ID proof. Whereas, the PAN card is a unique 10-digit identification number. 

While the Aadhaar card can be used as a proof of identity and place of residence, the PAN card helps the Income Tax Authority to keep track of all financial transactions. In such a situation, both of these are very important documents for us. Often people have to face problems due to the name being wrong in them. Your name can be corrected in the Aadhaar card and PAN card. 

How to correct your name in Aadhaar card: 

To correct your name in the Aadhaar card, you have to go to the Aadhaar Enrollment Center and fill the Aadhaar Amendment Form. There, along with filling the correct information in the form, a copy of those documents will also have to be attached in which your correct names are recorded. After this, you have to pay Rs. 25 to 30 to update the information. Your name will be corrected after following this process. 

Follow these steps to correct your name in Aadhaar card: 

  • Visit an Aadhaar enrollment centre.

  • Fill out Aadhaar modification form.

  • Enter correct information in the form.

  • Attach documents with correct name and right spelling with this form.

  • Rs 25-30 have to be paid for updating the information with the amount varying as per location and centre.

How to correct your name on PAN card: 

If there is a mistake in the name of the PAN card, visit the National Securities Depository Limited website. Select the option of Correction in Existing PAN here. After this, select the category type. A copy of those documents will also have to be attached in which your correct names are recorded. After doing this, click on the Submit option. You will be charged a fee for all this. After which the updated PAN card will be sent to the registered address 45 days from the day of application. 

Follow these steps to correct your name in PAN card: 

  • Visit the website of National Securities Depository Limited.

  • Select option ‘Correction in Existing PAN’.

  • Choose category type

  • Attach documents with correct name and right spelling.

  • Click on Submit option.

  • A certain fee will be charged, amount of which is not disclosed.

Updated PAN card will be sent to the registered address in 45 days from the day of application.
