People who do not have any documentary proof of address or PoA can also update or change their address in Aadhaar card. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced that current address can be updated in the Aadhaar card even if a person does not have any documentary proof of address in his or her name. According to the UIDAI’s press release, "This can be done with the help of an Address Verifier & by sending an online request for an Address Validation Letter".

The press release stated that this service is mainly useful for people who have recently changed their residence or house. Take for example, if you got married few days back then you may easily update your Aadhaar address to your new home online through this facility.
Who can be the Address Verifier?
An Address Verifier could be your family member, friend, relative, landlord who is willing to allow you use his address as proof. The address can be updated only if you are able to meet the following requirements:

Both resident & Address Verifier are required to have their mobile numbers registered in their respective Aadhaar.

Both resident & Address Verifier will be required to get authenticated through One-Time-Password or OTP.

The Address Verifier should be willing to give his or her consent letting the Resident to use their address to be updated in resident's Aadhaar.
How to update address in your Aadhaar without any documentary proof
Simple Steps to follow to update address in your Aadhaar without any documentary proof:
Step 1 – Go to the UIDAI website - uidai.gov.in - under 'My Aadhaar' menu tap request for 'Address Validation Letter'.
Step 2 - You will be redirected to a new page - 'Request for Address Validation Letter'. Here enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number / 16-digit Virtual ID. Also enter the given captcha. Then click 'Send OTP'.
Step 3 – Now write your 6-digit or 8-digit OTP sent to your registered number & click on 'Login'.
Step 4 – Then provide the 'Verifier Details' and 'Address Verifier Aadhaar number.'
Step 5 - Verifier will get a SMS with link on his or her registered mobile number to give consent for the update. Then verifier clicks on the link & gets second SMS with OTP for verification. Fill in the OTP, captcha & verify it.
Step 6 - After verification, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN) through SMS. So log in with the 'SRN', preview address, edit local language (if needed) and click on 'Submit'.
Step 7 - You will receive a letter. 'Address Validation Letter' with 'Secret Code' will be sent to verifier's address through post.
Step 8 – Last step is to re-visit 'SSUP' (UIDAI) website & click on the link that reads ‘Proceed to Update Address'. After that, log in with Aadhaar, choose option to 'Update Address via Secret Code' and enter 'Secret Code'. Review the new address & click on 'Submit'.
