Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman will inaugurate four new Farmers’ Training and Agro-Processing Centres across the Kalyana Karnataka region on October 15, 2025. The centres, located in Koppal, Raichur, Ballari, and Vijayanagara districts, have been established through contributions from the Minister’s MPLADS fund in partnership with NABARD. The initiative aims to transform the region’s agricultural value chain and boost rural livelihoods.

This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the agri-based economy, promote self-reliance among farmers, and create employment opportunities in rural areas. Each centre has been designed to harness the region’s agricultural potential through modern processing infrastructure, skill development programmes, and improved market linkages for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).

In Koppal’s Methagal village, a Fruit Processing Centre will focus on mango, papaya, and guava, producing juices, pulp, and powder. Raichur’s Jawalagera village will feature a Pulses Processing Unit for red gram and Bengal gram, producing Tur Dal and Chilla Mix.

In Ballari, the Red Chilli Processing Centre will produce high-quality chilli powder and flakes, while a Groundnut and Tamarind Processing Facility will be set up in Vijayanagara to manufacture peanut butter, salted peanuts, and tamarind pulp

The centres will handle processing, packaging, and branding of local produce while training farmers in post-harvest management and digital marketing. The projects are expected to enhance farmers’ income, build entrepreneurship, and turn Kalyana Karnataka into a model for agricultural transformation in India.
