The NIRF India Rankings, conducted annually under the National Institutional Ranking Framework, evaluate and rank higher education institutions across India in multiple categories. In its 10th edition, the framework assessed institutions across nine broad categories, Overall, Universities, Colleges, Research Institutions, Innovation, State Public Universities, Open Universities, Skill Universities, and SDGs.
Additionally, rankings were released in eight subject-specific areas including Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture & Planning, Law, Dental, and Agriculture & Allied Sciences.
IARI’s stellar performance in the 2025 edition highlights its consistent efforts to advance agricultural research, innovation, and education. Its first-place ranking in the Agriculture and Allied Sectors category acknowledges the institute’s path-breaking contributions to sustainable farming practices and food security.
Meanwhile, securing the second spot in the SDG Institutions category underscores IARI’s dedication to aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in areas of sustainability, environmental conservation, and inclusive growth.
In Overall NIRF Rankings 2025, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras retained the top spot, followed by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and IIT Bombay. With IARI leading in the Agriculture and Allied Sectors and excelling in the SDG Institutions category, this year’s rankings reflect both academic excellence and the growing importance of sustainability in India’s higher education landscape.
