National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025 was successfully conducted on May 4, 2025. This year, more than 22.7 lakh candidates appeared for the examination across 5,400+ centers in over 500 cities in India and abroad. The next important milestone for candidates is the release of the NEET UG 2025 answer key.
Although the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not yet officially released the provisional answer key, it is expected to be published soon. Based on previous years’ timelines, the answer key is typically released within two to four weeks of the exam. Candidates are advised to stay updated and frequently check the official website
When Will the NEET UG 2025 Answer Key Be Released?
Historically, the provisional answer key is released approximately 20 to 25 days after the examination. For example, in 2024, the answer key was published 24 days after the NEET UG exam. If the same schedule is followed this year, the answer key for NEET UG 2025 is expected to be available in the first or second week of June 2025.
Once the answer key is released, students will also get access to their OMR response sheets and recorded responses. This allows them to match their answers with the official key and estimate their scores.

Objection Window for Provisional Answer Key
After releasing the provisional answer key, NTA will open a limited-time objection window. During this period, candidates who find discrepancies in the answer key can raise objections.
Here’s how the objection process works:
-
A non-refundable fee of Rs 200 per question must be paid to submit each challenge.
-
The challenge must include supporting evidence or references from authentic sources.
-
The objections will be reviewed by a panel of subject experts.
-
If any challenge is found to be valid, the answer key will be revised accordingly.
-
The final answer key will then be released, and no further objections will be entertained after that.
Note: It is important to note that once the final answer key is published, it will be used to prepare the NEET UG 2025 results and rankings.
NEET UG 2025 Marking Scheme
To calculate your probable score using the answer key, you must understand the NEET UG marking scheme. Here is a breakdown:
-
For each correct answer: +4 marks
-
For each incorrect answer: -1 mark
-
For questions not attempted: 0 marks
If a question has more than one correct option: +4 marks to all who marked any of the correct answers
If a question is found to be incorrect or dropped: +4 marks to all candidates who attempted the question, regardless of their selected option This marking scheme will help you estimate your NEET score before the official results are declared.
What Comes After the Answer Key?
