To commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna- Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who was also the first president of Independent India and Union Minister of Food and Agriculture of India in 1946, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has declared December 3rd as "Agricultural Education Day."
As a strong believer in the maximization of agricultural production, Dr. Rajendra Prasad made a slogan ‘Grow More Food.’
Understanding the significance of this day, Krishi Jagran is organizing a Webinar on the Importance of Agriculture Education for All on 3rd December 2021 at 3 pm.
Many eminent personalities including Arun Raste, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited NCDEX, participated in the webinar and delivered his speech.
Arun Raste Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited started his speech with how he began his journey. He talked about Agriculture's share in GDP that reached 20% during the corona pandemic. He also talked about Agri Management, Agri Tech & Agri Value Chain and gave example of Dr. Verghese Kurien & his journey.
Talking about the importance of education he said that we have to change our education system & make it farmer-oriented. We have to focus on “Agriculture Export” and with special focus on the “Food Security”. Raste said that there should be a reinvention of Agri Education in the syllabus.

About Arun Raste
Arun Raste is the Managing Director & CEO of the country's leading agri- commodity bourse National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX). Under the new leadership, these initiatives will scale new heights and would widen the participation base to a wider set of audiences.
