Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni, has once again made its mark in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 released by the Union Ministry of Education. The rankings were announced in New Delhi by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This year, the NIRF evaluated institutions across 17 categories. UHF Nauni secured positions in three of them, highlighting the university’s growing stature in higher education, particularly in the agriculture and allied sectors.
In a notable achievement, the university ranked 12th among agriculture, forestry, and veterinary institutions nationwide. Additionally, when considering all institutions under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in the broader agriculture and allied sectors, UHF secured the 20th position.
The university’s performance reflects steady improvement, with its overall score rising from 54.67 in 2024 to 55.53 in 2025. According to the data, UHF improved in 9 out of the 17 ranking parameters and maintained a perfect score in four areas. These improvements were largely driven by stronger metrics in student enrollment, faculty qualifications, research output, publication quality, regional diversity, and perception.
Beyond the subject-specific rankings, UHF Nauni was also listed in the 101–150 band in the Universities category and placed in the 151–200 band in the Overall rankings, which cover all types of higher education institutions in India.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel said, “The university has been a consistent performer in these rankings and we have managed to improve our overall score this year in many parameters, which reflects the positive work being done by the university. However, we are also analysing the areas where our performance did not meet our expectations so that corrective measures can be taken for achieving even better results in the future.”
