Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, chaired a high-level meeting at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi to review farmers’ complaints received through platforms such as the PM-Kisan Portal, Kisan e-Mitra, and Kisan Call Center. He sought detailed updates on the grievances and directed officials to ensure their timely and effective redressal.

Chouhan expressed serious concern over the increasing number of complaints related to crop failures caused by fake pesticides. Sharing his personal experience, he said he had visited affected fields himself and assured that strict action would be taken against those deceiving farmers. “No tampering with farmers will be tolerated. Those who cheat them will not be spared. A nationwide campaign will be launched against such malpractices,” he said.

Agriculture Minister urged farmers to report their problems through the toll-free number 18001801551 to ensure speedy resolution. He reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding farmers’ rights and providing justice to them.

Reaffirming his earlier directives, Chouhan asked officials to take stringent action against the sale of fake fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides, describing them as a major threat to farmers’ livelihoods. He ordered large-scale surprise raids on factories and shops selling substandard agricultural inputs, immediate sealing of such establishments, and strict legal measures against violators.

Chouhan also asked state governments to coordinate closely with the Centre in tackling fraudulent practices and to intensify awareness campaigns so that farmers are not misled by suppliers.

He underlined that protecting farmers from exploitation and ensuring access to genuine agricultural inputs remains the government’s priority.
