The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of India's most prominent philosophers and visionaries, and is known as the Yuva Diwas to honor his contributions to Indian society. This is partly because he was one of the most famous leaders of his day in terms of influencing India's youth.

In 1985, the Government of India announced Swami Vivekananda's birthday to be the National Youth Day of India. This has been done largely to inspire the youngsters of India to follow the example of Swami Vivekananda, which would ultimately contribute to the nation's success.

Swami Vivekananda was born in 1863, and he continues to inspire thousands of Indian youths to this day.

In fact, one of his most powerful messages to the youngsters was, "What I want is muscles of iron and nerves of steel, inside which resides a mind of the same material as that of the thunderbolt."

In addition, 'The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda,' a comprehensive book including all of Swami Vivekananda's teachings, is given in sections and acts as a motivation for adolescents to identify their potential and work hard.
