Nag Panchami 2025: Nag Panchami, a sacred and culturally significant Hindu festival, will be celebrated on Tuesday, 29 July 2025. Observed on the fifth day (Panchami Tithi) of the Shukla Paksha in the holy month of Shravan (Sawan), this festival is dedicated to the worship of Nag Devta (the serpent god). Deeply rooted in Hindu mythology, the festival symbolizes reverence for serpents and is believed to bring peace, protection, and blessings from Lord Shiva, under whose divine circle the serpent gods are honored.

Nag Panchami holds a special place in the hearts of Shiva devotees. On this day, worshippers offer milk, water, turmeric, roli, and flowers to the snake deity and also perform Abhishek of Shivling with milk and water. The month of Shravan itself is considered the most auspicious period for religious observances, and Nag Panchami further enhances its sanctity. As per Hindu belief, worshipping the Nag Devta during Sawan helps remove obstacles like Kaal Sarp Dosh, fear of snakes, and other serpent-related troubles.

This year, Nag Panchami coincides with the Mangala Gauri Vrat, adding to its spiritual significance. Devotees are advised to begin their day early, preferably during Brahma Muhurta (4:17 AM – 4:59 AM), take a holy bath, and wear clean traditional clothes to perform the rituals. The puja should be done by spreading a red cloth on a wooden platform and placing an idol or drawing of a serpent deity made of flour or clay. Offerings include milk, turmeric, rice, flowers, roli, and sweets. Devotees also chant “Om Namah Shivaya” and mantras related to Rahu and Ketu to seek divine protection.

The Panchang mentions that Nag Panchami will be celebrated on 29 July 2025 based on Udaya Tithi. For rituals, worshippers should prepare the puja area, place the idol or image of Nag Devta, offer traditional items, and perform aarti. Milk mixed with honey is poured either on the idol or at anthills, believed to be the abode of serpents. Devotees also offer wheat, kheer, or laddus post puja and share prasad with family.

Nag Panchami 2025: Date and Shubh Muhurat

Nag Panchami 2025 will be celebrated on Tuesday, 29 July. According to the Hindu Panchang, the Panchami Tithi begins at 11:24 PM on 28 July and ends at 12:46 AM on 30 July. The most auspicious time for performing the puja is during the Nag Panchami Puja Muhurat, which is from 5:41 AM to 8:23 AM, lasting 2 hours and 43 minutes.

Devotees can also perform spiritual practices during other favorable periods such as the Brahma Muhurat from 4:17 AM to 4:59 AM, the Abhijit Muhurat from 12:00 PM to 12:55 PM, and the Vijaya Muhurat from 2:43 PM to 3:37 PM. Observing the rituals during these times is believed to bring maximum blessings and divine protection.

Significance

The festival is not just religious but also carries cultural and spiritual relevance. Serpents are deeply respected in Hinduism, often depicted around Lord Shiva's neck and as guardians of wealth and wisdom. Worshipping the Nag Devta ensures protection from hidden dangers, resolution of past karmic issues, and general well-being. It's also believed to bring financial prosperity and eliminate enemies' negative influence. While seeing a live snake is not necessary, sincere puja at home or a temple with a pure heart is enough to receive divine blessings.
