Mumbai is again on "orange alert"! The city witnessed a brief respite with light showers on Wednesday. However, the weather is expected to take a turn for the worse, with generally cloudy skies and heavy rainfall.

While Mumbai and Thane face the brunt of the storm, neighboring districts like Pune, Palghar, and Satara are also on high alert, with the IMD issuing a ‘yellow alert’ for these areas.

Several western coastal regions, including Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, and Kerala, are anticipated to experience light to moderate rainfall within the next three hours. These areas should also brace for isolated thunderstorms and lightning. Northern regions like Jammu & Kashmir, parts of Uttarakhand, and a few districts in West Bengal, Assam, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh are also on alert!

While the extent of the rainfall is yet to be determined, Mumbai has already seen significant precipitation in the last 24 hours. The Central region received the highest average rainfall at 83 mm, followed by the Eastern and Western suburbs at 45 mm and 39 mm respectively. Colaba witnessed the heaviest downpour within the city limits, recording 51.8 mm, while Santacruz received 27 mm.
