“We have to stop damaging mother earth. We receive everything from the land, be it food, fabric, or fodder. It is our responsibility to give back to the land through organic and natural farming so that the soil is not destroyed. The pesticide residue from the crop is left in the food that children eat, dementing their growth. So not only are we destroying the land’s health, but we are also destroying the health of our future generation,” said Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Member of Parliament and Former Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries and MSME at the KJ Choupal session held in the capital on 5th august 2022.
MC Dominic, the founder of Krishi Jagran & Agriculture World welcomed him and appreciated Sarangi’s humility, “It is always an honor to welcome a man of such prestige who chose to live in modesty. You are truly an inspiration for generations to come.” Sarangi recently visited President Murmu, a fellow former Oriya MLA and a long-time friend of his since their MLA days to congratulate her on her new role.
Speaking about empowering female farmers, Sarangi suggested, “Women farmers should turn themselves into entrepreneurs by producing and selling value-added products from their crops. To make themselves truly Atmanirbhar, they can start by selling potato chips, jams, jellies, handmade pappads, etc.”
Known for his simplicity and modesty, Sarangi hails from Balasore, Odisha where he opened schools for the unprivileged children called Samar Kara Kendra and is engaged intensively as a social activist.
Sarangi also took part in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by participating in the bike rally organized by the central government from Red Fort to Vijay Chowk. He urged the citizens to participate in the ongoing campaign as well.
