More Interaction, More Learning: Dr. R.R. Burman Calls for Practical Engagement at IARI Patna Hub

An enriching interaction session was organized at the IARI Patna Hub for students, graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. R.R. Burman, Assistant Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Kalyan Ghadei, Head of the Department of Extension Education, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), as the Guest of Honour..

The session began with a warm welcome by Dr. Anup Das, Director of ICAR-RCER, who spoke highly of Dr. Burman’s invaluable contributions to the field of agricultural extension. Dr. Das emphasized that Dr. Burman’s vast experience would provide students with practical insights to help them navigate real-world challenges.

This was followed by an insightful presentation by Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, highlighting the achievements of IARI Patna students across academics, research, and extracurricular activities.

In his motivational address, Dr. R.R. Burman urged students to take pride in their IARI identity and rise to challenges in order to uphold the institute’s legacy. He emphasized the importance of self-preparation, recommending that students identify and read key textbooks, participate actively in interaction sessions, and adopt a problem-solving approach to learning.

He also stressed the value of regular interactions—both in the classroom and with farmers, as a way to deepen practical understanding. Dr. Burman proposed the organization of online sessions to ensure continued engagement and mentorship.

Prof. Kalyan Ghadei offered an inspiring perspective on the global relevance of agriculture, noting that 43% of global projects and 51% of startups are linked to the agricultural sector. He encouraged students to maintain the high standards set by IARI and to distinguish themselves through academic excellence, practical learning, and innovation.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Banda Sainath, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the guests for their valuable insights and encouragement.
