The IMD predicts cloudy weather with chances of intermittent rain throughout the day. This relief is expected to continue, with similar forecasts until July 9th.
Heavy Rain Expected in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar
While Delhi enjoys a break, several other states are on high alert for heavy rainfall. Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, shall experience moderate to heavy showers for the next five days. The intensity is predicted to increase in the Central and Southern parts of the state over the next 4-5 days, with heavy rain likely in Mirzapur, Kanpur, and Jalaun districts.
A Yellow Alert has been issued in Bihar, and heavy downpours are predicted in Supaul, Madhubani, and Katihar districts. The rain has decreased Patna's temperature by six degrees in three days.
Uttarakhand Continues to See Heavy Rainfall
Uttarakhand has witnessed continuous rainfall, particularly in Dehradun, for the past two days. The IMD has issued a red alert, warning of heavy rain in Kumaon for the next three days. The state has received significantly above-average rainfall in the last three days, with Dehradun recording 135 mm and Jolly Grant receiving the highest amount at 143 mm.
North-East India Faces Very Heavy Rainfall Threat
The IMD warns of heavy rainfall impacting North-West and East India over the next four to five days. The situation is expected to be even more severe in North-East India, heavy rainfall is anticipated.
This widespread monsoon activity comes after a delayed arrival. The Southwest monsoon reached Kerala on May 30th, two days earlier than usual, and covered the entire country by July 1st, six days ahead of schedule. However, its progress stalled near Maharashtra, leading to a wait for rains in several states previously suffering from a heatwave.
