Government has announced a Rs 50 hike in LPG cylinder prices, making cooking gas more expensive for Indian households starting this week

The new cost of a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder is now Rs 853 for general users. Those under the Ujjwala Yojana will now pay Rs 553 instead of Rs 503. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said the price change affects both regular and Ujjwala customers equally. He added that the pricing will be reviewed every 15 to 30 days.

This marks the first increase in domestic LPG prices since August last year. Before this, prices had stayed the same for several months.

Interestingly, on April 1, oil companies cut the price of commercial LPG cylinders. The cost of a 19-kg commercial cylinder dropped by Rs 41 and now stands at Rs 1,762 in Delhi.
