The weather in Delhi, Bihar, Jharkhand, and South Bengal has been nice in recent days, with light to moderate rainfall. According to the weather forecast, more rain is in the forecast.
Delhi:
According to the Meteorological Department (MeT), Monday will have a cloudy sky with very light rain and drizzle and gusty gusts (25-35 kmph).
The maximum temperature in Delhi on Sunday was 31.3 degrees Celsius, six degrees below usual, according to the weather service. The minimum temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius, one degree below than the normal. According to the IMD, the relative humidity ranged between 47% and 32%.
Bihar:
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is predicted to fall in isolated areas of Bihar over the next 24 hours. On Sunday, most portions of Bihar experienced maximum temperatures below 39 degrees Celsius, as light rain fell in isolated areas for the third day in a row, keeping the mercury level in check.
On Sunday, the hottest temperature was 39 degrees Celsius in Ziradei, Siwan district. The temperature in Valmiki Nagar, West Champaran district, was 38.1 degrees Celsius, while it was 37.8 degrees Celsius in Motihari and Bhagalpur and 35.6 degrees Celsius in Patna, the state capital.
On Sunday, certain places in the districts of Daudnagar, Aurangabad, Dehri, Buxar, Gaya, and Nalanda experienced light rain. Light rain is forecast in certain areas even on Monday, according to IMD officials.
South Bengal:
For the next three days, the Met Department predicts thunderstorms and light to moderate rain in all districts of south Bengal. An overcast sky and light rain in one or two spots on Sunday morning cooled temperatures down in most sections of south Bengal, which had been sweltering under heatwave conditions for over ten days, providing comfort to residents. South Bengal residents awoke to an overcast sky and light rain in some regions on Sunday morning, drastically lowering night and day temperatures.
Most locations recorded temperatures that were five to seven degrees lower than a couple of days before. According to Met data, Kolkata recorded a maximum day temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 24 degrees, while Bankura, which has consistently recorded the state's highest temperature of above 44 degrees Celsius, registered 36.7 degrees on Sunday.
Jharkhand:
Jharkhand is expected to have good weather until April 26 after portions of the state saw thundershowers on Sunday. Ranchi saw a maximum temperature of 31.6 degrees Celsius, 5.4 degrees below normal, while Jamshedpur recorded 35.1 degrees Celsius, 4.6 degrees below normal.
According to the weather office, the maximum temperature in Daltonganj was 35.4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Bokaro was 33.5 degrees Celsius. "A trough that runs from sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim to Chhattisgarh across Jharkhand helped to bring the mercury down in the state," said Ranchi Meteorological Centre in-charge Abhishek Anand. He expects no significant change in maximum temperature over the following three days. "Thereafter, it could rise by 3-4 degrees Celsius," he said.
Yellow Warning for Assam, Neighbouring States
Over the next two days, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in Assam and adjoining districts, according to the Met Department. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) forecasts a cyclonic circulation between 1.5 and 2.1 km above mean sea level across east Assam and its surroundings. For weather warnings, the IMD employs four colour codes: green (no action required), yellow (watch and remain updated), orange (be prepared), and red (take action).
Thunderstorms with lightning are also very likely in isolated areas of Arunachal Pradesh, while heavy rains are very possible in isolated areas of Meghalaya during the same period. The RMC has also issued a warning that thunderstorms with lightning are extremely likely in isolated locations over all seven north eastern states.
