Telugu actor Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, also known as Krishna has passed away today at the age of 79. A favorite in the industry, the actor is missed by his children from his first wife Indira, namely, Mahesh Babu, Padmavathi, Manjula, and Priyadarshini, and his second wife Vijaya Nirmala.
Several politicians and celebrities have expressed their grief and offered condolences. Taking to Twitter, Chief Minister of Telangana K. Chandrasekhar Rao said, “The death of Krishna, who acted in more than 350 films and left an indelible mark on the hearts of moviegoers, is a huge loss for the Telugu film industry.”
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh also took to Twitter to offer his condolences, saying that the late actor was hailed as the ‘James Bond’ of AP. He said that his passing has left a huge void for the Telugu cinema industry as well as his fans who cherished him.
The superstar's death was mourned by a large number of his fans and actors from the Indian film industry. Krishna experienced a heart attack early on Monday and was taken to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment. A multidisciplinary team of medical professionals kept an eye on him while he was in the hospital and put him on life support.
Krishna starred in a number of popular films over his solid career, including Gudachari 116, Manchi Kutumbam, Lakshmi Nivasam, Vichitra Kutumbam, Devadasu, Bhale Krishnudu, and Guru Sishyulu.
Mahesh Babu is still in grief for the passing of his mother Indira and older brother Ramesh Babu this year as the news of Krishna passing away hit the country. Indira passed away on September 28 of this year at the age of 70 and Ramesh passed away in January from a kidney-related condition. He wasn't even 56.
As he remembered Ghattamaneni Krishna, actor Nagarjuna Akkineni sent his condolences to Mahesh Babu and his family. He lauded the late actor as a fearless actor. "A Fearless man who attempted every genre!!," Nagarjuna wrote on Twitter. “The original cowboy in Telugu movies!! I could sit with him for hours which were filled with his positivity the man the legend the superstar!! #RIPSuperStarKrishnaGaru we will miss you.”
The late Telugu movie star Ghattamaneni Krishna was taken to his Nanankramguda home where his last journey took place at 10 am in the morning. For others to pay their respects before the final ceremonies, his mortal remains will be placed at his home, Vijaya Nirmala. There has not yet been a formal notification regarding the schedule of funeral rites.
