This year marks the 55th Death Anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, India Second Prime Minister (1964-1966). Krishi Jagran dedicates the day to promote awareness among the citizens to understand the importance of agriculture and farmers.
Shastri's death anniversary is celebrated every year on 11 January. In Tashkent, Shastri had said for world peace that fighting does not solve problems, and creates. Differences must be overcome for peace.
Lal Bahadur Shastri's slogan Jai Jawan Jai Kisan reverberates even today through the length and breadth of the country. Underlying this is the innermost sentiments 'Jai Hindustan'. The war of 1965 was fought and won for our self-respect and our national prestige. For using our Defence Forces with such admirable skill, the nation remains beholden to Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri. He will be remembered for all times to come for his large-heartedness and public service.
Lal Bahadur Shastri devoted his entire life to the service of the poor. He was born on 2 October 1904 in Mughalsarai, Uttar Pradesh, to Sharada Prasad and Ramdulari Devi. Lal Bahadur Shastri has a special contribution to the independence of the country. In the year 1920, Shastri joined the freedom struggle of India.
Among the movements in which they played an important role in the freedom struggle, the Non-Cooperation Movement of 1921, the Dandi March of 1930 and the Quit India Movement of 1942 are notable. It was Shastri who gave the slogan of 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' to the country.
To observe and celebrate the Kisan Diwas, Krishi Jagran, a specialized media house in agriculture & rural sector since 1996 is bringing live session this year on 11 January from 4 pm onwards to pay tribute to the “Lal Bahadur Shastri” by bringing the eminent speakers from the agriculture & its allied industry along with government bodies to share their thoughts.
