Despite significant growth in agriculture over the last few decades, Indian Agriculture and the farming community continues to face serious challenges such as information, knowledge, and skill gaps; growing risks in agriculture; poor access to credit and investments, and so on.
To solve these agricultural issues, we require a pluralistic eco-system to include a variety of stakeholders. There are many big players in the corporate sector who willingly come forward for the socio-economic upliftment of farmers through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. They arrange various training camps for creating awareness among the farmers regarding soil and water conservation, water management, construction, renovation, and maintenance of water harvesting structures for improving surface and ground water availability, etc. However, most of these CSR funds go under-utilized as the corporates are unable to find the proper CSR Fund Implementing agencies.
According to M.C. Dominic, Founder & Editor-in-Chief of Krishi Jagran this collaboration aims to uplift the farming community and provide them a high quality of life through appropriate channelization of CSR Funds.
He said “We have been working for the farming community for last 25 years and we understand their needs very well. CSR activities aimed at improving the living standards of the farming community and spreading awareness among the farmers can help strengthen Agriculture sector in a big way.”
Ved Prakash Sharma, COO (Chief Operating Officer) of the B-ABLE foundation briefed about the organization structure and how it will benefit this righteous cause. He said “B-ABLE has implemented training programs across 28 states of India in various sectors including construction, apparel, textile, retail, hospitality, agriculture, health, automobile, ITES, etc. B-ABLE is currently active in 28 states with over 100+ centers and more than 1000 schools nationwide. We wish to provide complete support to the agri and rural community and this partnership will be the way to go.”
