Farm Bills: The farmer’s agitation has spread across the states as farm unions intensified their protest in several parts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, and MP. The Centre on the other hand said that it has been looking to keep the communication open.
"The government is ready to discuss the legislations once the farmers responded to a set of amendments proposed by the government", said agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
On the other hand, staying firm on their decision, farmer leaders said they will "make" government to scrap these legislation, and asserted that their fight has reached a stage where they are "determined" to win it no matter what.
As per the recent reports, the agitating farmers said that they will completely block the Chilla Border between Delhi and Noida today if government will not change its mind and ignore their demands.
They also said that farmer unions are not running away from negotiation, but the government has to pay heed to their demands and come forward with concrete proposals.
While addressing a press conference at the Singhu Border, farmer leader Jagjeet Singh Dallewal said, "The government is saying 'we won't repeal these laws', we are saying we will make you do it." "The fight has reached a stage where we are determined to win no matter what," he said.
Yudhvir Singh, another leader said protesting farmers stay put at Delhi border points, their protest will intensify further, and added that the government is wrong if it thinks otherwise.
Moreover, in an email to Vivek Agrawal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sanyukt Kisan Morcha leader Darshan Pal said, “With reference to the proposal and letter received from you, we want to inform the government that the farmer unions had held a joint meeting on the same day and discussed your proposal and rejected it because it was the written format of the proposal verbally offered by the government representatives on 5 December 2020.”
