Kerala’s Capital all set to begin “Jalashree” for Water Conservation

Kerala’s new project for water conservation is all set to begin and will launch on September 28 at the state’s capital city.

Kerala’s new project for water conservation is all set to begin and will launch on September 28 at the state’s capital city.  

“Jalashree” is a Panchayath level scheme for the sustainable water source for drinking, irrigation, industry, farming and cleanliness. The project will be implemented in four phases. It comprises of water literacy campaigns, surveys, workshops and awareness classes.

Complete recharging of wells, upgradation of water bodies, tree planting and rainwater harvesting pits construction will also be organised as part of this project.

In addition to this, water purity checking facilities and jalashree clubs will be started in selected schools in each panchayath.  Water surveys and water samiti will be conducted in ward level. The implementation of the project is envisaged to take place with the joint participation of block panchayat, grama panchayat, residents association, representatives and various organisations like Kudumbasree etc.
