There has been a debate many times in the country about how safe the data of Aadhar card is. But do you know what things we should keep in mind while using an Aadhar card? We knowingly or unknowingly make some mistakes while using the Aadhar card, which can lead to misuse of our Aadhar card by other people.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has given 7 main ways to protect yourself against Aadhar card misuse. Apart from this, UIDAI had also recently issued an advisory in which it had cautioned those sharing a photocopy of the Aadhar Card.
Verify before taking Aadhar Number
According to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), if you are taking an Aadhar card as identity proof, then first verify the Aadhar number. You can verify any Aadhaar number by visiting the UIDAI website. You can do so by visiting https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/verifyAadhaar.
Never share OTP
This is the simplest method of Aadhaar authorization, but through this, there is a fear of misuse of Aadhaar. It is advised to never share your Aadhaar Card OTP with anyone.
Delete
If you have used a public computer to download the Aadhaar Card, then don't forget to delete the downloaded file.
Check Aadhaar Authentication History
If you have used your Aadhaar at many places and on many occasions, then definitely check your Aadhaar authentication history. As per the official tweet, "You can check Aadhaar authorization history for 50 authorizations in the last 6 months. The exact date and time of authorization are mentioned in the results, which can help you notice if any wrong authorization has not happened."
Lock Your Aadhaar
Aadhaar Lock Holder can lock the biometrics to prevent any possible misuse and can also easily unlock it if required. According to UIDAI's tweet, to lock/unlock your aadhaar, you can use the mAadhaar app or you can also do it by going to the lock/unlock website.
Use Masked Aadhaar
If you do not want to reveal your Aadhaar number then you can use VID or Masked Aadhaar. It is valid and widely accepted in most parts of the country.
Update your mobile number
