July 9th Weather Report: Jaisalmer records highest temperature of 40.6OC on 8th July

Significant weather phenomenon –

Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely to occur over Western Himalayan Region, northern parts of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and north-eastern states.

Isolated extremely heavy falls likely to occur over Uttarakhand on 11^th and 12^th, East Uttar Pradesh during 10^th to 12^th, Bihar on 10^th and 11^th, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh during 9^th and 11^th July.

Some areas of Uttarakhand, Bihar, coastal Tamil Nadu, Telangana and interior Karnataka are likely to observe moderate to intense thunderstorm and lightning during next 12 hours.

Main weather phenomenon observed are –

Rainfall recorded at Mahabaleshwar-8, Harnai and Port Blair-6 each, Hissar, Cherrapunji, Matheran and Ratnagiri-5 each, Balughat, Keongjhargarh and Long Island-4 each, Ludhiana, Sholapur and Goa-3 each.

Heavy rainfall observed at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh.

Maximum temperature were above normal (1.6^oC to 3.0^oC) at most places over Marathwada, Chattisgarh, Vidharbha, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzzaffarabad, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya.

Maximum temperature were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C ) at many places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at isolated places over East Rajasthan, Gujarat region and Coastal Karnataka and near normal over rest parts of the country.

The highest Maximum temperature of 40.6°C was reported at Jaisalmer (West Rajasthan), on July 8^th.
