The scheme provides direct income support of Rs. 6,000 annually to farmers, payable in three equal installments, and is credited directly to their bank accounts. The BJP leader's comments come amid rising concerns over farmers' welfare in the country, with many farmers protesting against new agricultural laws that they say will harm their interests.
JP Nadda criticized the opposition in a public meeting, revealing that during the tenures of Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah in the state, the party was asked to provide the names of farmers for the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. However, only 17 farmers' names were submitted by Kumaraswamy, which Nadda sarcastically referred to as a "brilliant" performance. Nadda also alleged that these leaders have no intention of serving the people and only engage in empty talk.
Moreover, Nadda accused the previous Congress administration of obstructing development projects and welfare programs in the state.
The president of the BJP stated that 4 crore people in the state are now receiving free rations under the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana, and 9 lakh individuals have received homes under the PM Awas Yojana. Nadda stated that "This election is about the future of Karnataka." One party promotes corruption and hinders progress, while the BJP supports development. "If you want a government with two engines, you must elect Bangarappa to the state assembly," Nadda added. He also criticized the Congress party for scrapping the state's 4% Muslim quota.
Nadda stated that his party had raised SC reservations by 2%, ST reservations by 4%, Lingayat reservations by 2%, and Vokkaliga reservations by 2% to promote social welfare. However, he accused Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar of planning to remove these reservations and replace them with communal reserves, which he claimed would be unconstitutional. He also questioned Congress's motives in wanting to reclaim these reservations, accusing them of dividing people for political gain.
JP Nadda emphasized that voting for the BJP means supporting the motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas' under PM Modi's leadership, which aims to uplift every section of society.
He also warned that electing JD(S) would be equivalent to electing Congress, and electing Congress would be the same as electing PFI, which provides support to anti-social elements. He urged the people of Karnataka to vote wisely and choose the BJP for the state's safety, security, and prosperity.
The Karnataka election schedule was announced by the Indian Election Commission on March 29th. The polls for the 224-member legislature are slated for May 10th, with the results declared on May 13th.
