JK Tyre Announces 300,000 Euros Scholarship Program to Nurture Young Talents

On the occasion of celebrating over four decades of motorsport journey here on Wednesday, JK Tyre, the name synonymous with motorsport in India, announced a scholarship program of 300,000 Euros to nurture young talents across the country.

The first is India's rising racing star, 17-year-old Amir Sayed from Kottayam, who proved his grit and determination and became the JK Tyre Novice Cup Champion in 2020 by winning all 12 races in his category during the season. This year, Amir is competing in the French F4 Championship.

Sanjay Sharma, Head of Motorsports at JK Tyre, said on the show: "With the goal of giving young talent a much-needed boost, we have announced this scholarship program, which will select children from various categories and provide them with the opportunity to bring home laurels by representing the country on international platforms. 

We are fueled with the passion to race ahead with our motorsports plans and continue to add more and more value to the world of motorsports in the country as we enter our 25th year." 

Gaurav Gill, India's adorned rally driver and Arjuna Awardee, graced the occasion with his presence. He also declared his intention to compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2022.

This will be his first appearance after a long absence. The three-time APRC (Asia Pacific Rally Championship) and seven-time INRC (Indian National Rally Championship) champion is preparing to compete in the WRC Safari Rally in Kenya from June 23 to 26.

Gill will co-drive the Skoda Fabia R5 in WRC 2 with Brazilian co-driver Gabriel Morales, producing 290 hp and a maximum torque of 425 Newton meters.

The Safari is billed as one of the most difficult rallies in the WRC, with 19 special stages covering nearly 365km of competition crossing challenging closed dirt roads, rocky and rutted tracks, and unpredictable weather that can turn dry and dusty trails into muddy bogs. of 425 Newton meters with Brazilian co-driver Gabriel Morales.

Gill's participation in the Rally of Australia was cut short when the event was canceled at the last minute due to weather conditions.
