The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a 100% subsidy for the development of millet processing units in the state as part of celebrating 2023 as the International Year Of Millets as recognized by the United Nations.
During the upcoming G-20 activities in the state, the government would also heavily promote millets grown in the state. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, is said to have already given the state government officials orders. The government has previously said that anyone who starts millet processing units in UP will receive a 100% subsidy.
Along with providing a subsidy, the UP government will also engage top chefs in developing new recipes for these production plants. To ensure that the sale of coarse grains is available at the greatest number of locations, the state government has additionally created specific outlets (places) in the mandis.
There will also be designated separate stores for their company. In every district, the Rural Development Department will expand it from blocks to village panchayats. Additionally, the UP government will promote state-grown millets at a number of G-20 Presidency events it will be hosting around the state. To promote domestic millets, the government has already given orders to all hotels and venues hosting these events to serve domestic millets to visitors from other countries.
