IYoM 2023: “Millet Value Addition Has Been a Focal Point of Discussion at GB Pant University”: Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, GBPAUT

As we are aware, this year is dedicated to Millets and celebrated as the “International Year of Millets”, Krishi Jagran took the initiative to kickstart the grand year by hosting “The unveiling ceremony of ‘Special Edition on Millets’ & Discussion on Millets” in presence of several eminent personalities. Let’s take a look at what participants had to say about it.

Several prominent personalities were present at the conference. Speaking at the conference, Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, Vice Chancellor, of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology congratulated Krishi Jagran for organizing a successful conference on Millets and said, "On the behalf of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, I congratulate Krishi Jagran on the release of the 'Special Edition on Millets' magazines in 12 languages." 

Talking about what his university is doing for the advancement of millets, he said, “Millet value addition has been a focal point of discussion at GB Pant University and we are looking forward to developing new and better yielding varieties of millets. We are also providing training sessions to our farmers for learning more about scientific techniques of cultivating millets."

Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, now Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, formerly served as Director and Vice-Chancellor of the ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Karnal (Haryana). He spent four years as Director of the ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Goats at Makhdoom, Mathura, before joining NDRI.

Throughout his career, he worked with ICAR-NDRI and ICAR-IVRI in various capacities, ranging from Scientist to Principal Scientist. During his term as Director and Vice-Chancellor of NDRI, Karnal, he ranked NDRI Deemed University first among all Agricultural Universities in India, and he also ranked NDRI as an ICAR A+ recognized university.

About the event:

Krishi Jagran today hosted a conference celebrating the international year of millets, at their headquarters in Delhi. Some of the most prestigious delegates in the agriculture industry, from NITI Aayog and AARDO to FMC and NAFED, attended the meeting. IYoM 2023 and its participants have effectively promoted the conversation on millets as one of the first events to kick off the year of the millets.
