The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is hiring to fill 5151 positions across all ranks, according to Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai.

Rs. 6387.33 in 2019-20, Rs. 7588.43 in 2021-22, and Rs. 8196.98 crores in 2022-23 were allocated to the paramilitary force Rai added.

The seven new battalions that the ITBP plans to establish over the next three years are unrelated to the recruitment Rai referred to on Tuesday, according to officials with knowledge of the situation.

“The first recruitment of around 3000 personnel related to the seven new battalions should happen within this year. It will be a continuous process for the next three years,” stated an official.

The deployment of 9,400 ITBP personnel along the India-China border in Arunachal Pradesh, where a new sector headquarters of the force will also be established, has been approved by the Cabinet committee on security,  the Union government stated on February 15.

The declaration took place amid rising hostilities between China and India as a result of the clash in Ladakh's Galwan in 2020, which claimed the lives of 20 Indian soldiers and an undetermined number of Chinese forces.

The 3,488 km India-China border, which passes through Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh, is guarded by the ITBP.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police is a border patrol organization of India deployed along its borders with Tibet Autonomous Region. It is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces, established in 1962 in the aftermath of the Sino-Indian War of 1962.
