During the most recent KJ Chaupal hosted by Krishi Jagran, Kaushal Jaiswal, the Managing Director of Rivulis Irrigation Pvt. Ltd., visited the Delhi office to discuss the state of the micro-irrigation sector in India.
M.C. Dominic, the Editor-in-Chief of Krishi Jagran, expressed his admiration for Jaiswal, stating that he is a distinguished leader who has dedicated his life to the irrigation sector. “Not only is Jaiswal the MD of Rivulis, but he is also the Senior Vice President of the Irrigation Association of India. With his extensive knowledge of the agri domain and his global perspective, Jaiswal was the ideal speaker to provide precise insights into the current state of the irrigation sector,” said Dominic in his speech.
During the KJ Chaupal program, Jaiswal emphasized the advantages and challenges of the micro-irrigation system. He highlighted the system's potential to conserve water, enhance farmers' earnings, and reduce the use of urea by up to 50%. “By irrigating only, the crops and not the land, micro-irrigation saves farmers both time and money while increasing crop yields. Furthermore, by adopting the appropriate irrigation methods and improving soil health, crop yields can increase substantially while reducing the growth of weeds,” Jaiswal said at KJ Chaupal.
Jaiswal also addressed the challenges associated with adopting the micro-irrigation system. He acknowledged that while using this technique can be profitable, it also carries certain risks. The primary challenge is to make financing easier and ensure smooth implementation at the ground level. If this issue can be resolved, this technique can be adopted well before its time and subsidies would not be necessary.
He emphasized that each sector has its own unique challenges and qualities, and crop-specific systems are required to install appropriate equipment. To this end, Rivulis India Pvt. Ltd. is actively working to resolve challenges in the field of micro-irrigation systems to make equipment installation easier and to assist farmers in resolving any issues they encounter via phone calls.
