According to the additional chief secretary (ACS-Agriculture) Sumita Misra, Haryana will implement an internship scheme for BSc, MSc, and PhD students pursuing courses in agriculture and horticulture in the state universities.
Under this scheme, all students of the Maharana Pratap Horticulture University in Karnal, Chaudhary Charan Singh, Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar, and Central Institutes in the state will have the chance to complete an internship in the departments of agriculture, farmers' welfare, and horticulture.
Internship details
The internship for BSc students will be four weeks, while the internship for MSc and PhD students will be between eight to twelve weeks. Only BSc students who are already receiving a stipend from the university of Rs.13,000 per month will be permitted to participate in an internship programme for work in the departments.
Students will get Rs. 12000 as a stipend
The Department of Agriculture and Horticulture will provide MSc students with a stipend of Rs.9,000 and PhD students with a stipend of Rs.12,000. Ten BSc students and five each from the MSc and PhD programmes will be selected for internships in each department based on merit. The selected students will be assigned to various departments' divisions. Students will also get certificates once their internships have been well completed.
According to the ACS (agricultural), the trainees will get the chance to know about the department's programmes, methodologies, and technologies as well as have the chance to interact and meet with farmers. During the internship, they will also get practical knowledge of agricultural and horticultural crops.
