International Yoga Day 2025: As the world gears up to celebrate the 11th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025, preparations are in full swing across India, with both national and state-level events lined up to mark the occasion. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” underscores the universal appeal of Yoga as a powerful tool for mental and physical well-being.

The national celebration will take place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main event between 6:30 am and 7:45 am. In a coordinated nationwide effort, Yoga sessions will be held simultaneously at more than one lakh locations.

In Goa, the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is organising a major state-level event titled ‘Yoga Sangam’ at the Pedem Sports Complex in Mhapussa. The programme is expected to see enthusiastic participation from school and college students, government officials, and local residents. Officials say the event aims to create greater awareness about the benefits of Yoga and its relevance in daily life.

In the run-up to the main event, AIIA Goa, following directions from the Union Ministry of AYUSH, has already conducted a series of initiatives under the Harita Yoga and Yoga Sangam banners. These included Yoga sessions at heritage sites, tourist hotspots, ancient temples, and forts across the state. Over 200 students were part of these special drives, which combined tradition with wellness.

Additional activities such as medical camps, quizzes, and community Yoga sessions were also held to engage the public and promote holistic health. The initiatives are being led under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean, and Prof. Dr. Mohan Joshi, Associate Dean of AIIA Goa.

Officials state that these events not only showcase India’s rich Yoga tradition but also demonstrate a modern emphasis on preventive healthcare and mindful living. Through its initiatives, AIIA Goa aims to encourage more individuals to incorporate Yoga into their daily routines, reflecting the spirit of this year’s International Yoga Day.
