14th International Crop Science Conference & Exhibition (ICSCE), India's biggest and most exclusive event on Agri inputs has started today (14th November 2019) at the Hyatt Regency in Gurgaon. The conference is organized by the Pesticides Manufacturers and formulators Association of India (PMFAI) and will continue till 15th November 2019.
The event provides an opportunity to meet Distributors, Suppliers, Exporters, Importers, Farmers & Dealers, Agronomists, Scientists, Traders, Journalists, R&D Executives, Technical Executives, Manufacturers, Consultants, Research Institutions, Supply chain management & co-operatives, Ventures capitalists & Financial Representatives, Bio-fertilizers, Micronutrients, Key Government officials, Policy Makers & Researchers, Allied Chemicals & Packaging material suppliers, Seed companies, spraying and irrigation equipment manufacturers, plantation and horticultural producers, Manufacturers & Distributors of Bio-pesticides, Industry Associations, etc. and all those who are involved directly or indirectly with agri inputs.
Mr. Pradip Dave, President of Pesticides Manufacturers and formulators Association of India welcomed the participants and guests at the exhibition and gave a short description of the PMFAI's work so far.
An overview of Indian Agriculture was given by Mr. Ajay Kakkar, Vice President Marketing of Sumitomo India Ltd. He said several points to be taken for consideration, Climate Change is severe and Govt of India is aiming to double the farmers income by 2020, a budget has also been allocated for zero budget farming , timing of sowing and harvesting is also slightly changing due to climate change. He also said awareness levels at various stages need to be given to the farmers. Integration approach of using plant protection products also needs to be done.
Chief Guest Dr. R A Mashelkar, FRS, National Research Professor says, farmers at present are using 95 percent less crop protection products than the early days. We have to realize the increased concern about the Environment. Keeping the protection products safe is another challenge says Mashelkar.
Rajesh Aggarwal, MD, Insecticides (India) Ltd. says, you need to train farmers with the latest technologies, you have to educate them and you have to teach them the techniques and benefits of using agro chemicals.
