As part of the ‘Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence Project’, the Bihar agriculture department has built a shop selling solely organic vegetables and fruits at Hartali Mor.
The shop's goal is to provide nutritious organic products at reasonable prices, including a range of homemade items.
According to Raushan Kumar, the shop's merchant, pure and fresh vegetables are delivered daily in the morning.
Apart from fruits and vegetables, customers enjoy homemade pickles, natural honey with no added sugar, and Makhana cooked in pure ghee.
The shop is run by the Center of Excellence for Vegetables, which is located in the Nalanda district's Chandi block.
CM Nitish Kumar had inaugurated the center of excellence for vegetables at Chandi on February 27, 2019, under the 'Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence Project' with an investment of Rs4.6 crore.
The project is divided into two parts: the Center of Excellence for Vegetables in Chandi and the Center of Excellence for Fruits in Desari in Vaishali district.
According to officials, innovative Israeli techniques are applied at both centers to increase the output of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and essential oils.
According to Nand Kishore, the state agricultural department's director of horticulture, the center's aim is to train farmers how to cultivate vegetables more efficiently.
"The center not only demonstrates open farming but also instructs students in protected growing techniques such poly house tunnel, insect vector house, shed net house, and mulching," he said.
He added: "Agriculturalists are taking huge steps toward educating farmers on different types of irrigation techniques to enhance productivity without wasting water. A hi-tech nursery is also available at the center, which is capable of growing 4 lakh saplings at a time."
