Kisan e-Mitra: A Milestone in AI-Powered Solutions
A significant milestone in this technological journey is the development of 'Kisan e-Mitra,' an AI-powered chatbot designed to address farmers' queries about the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. This multilingual solution, available in Hindi, Tamil, Odia, Bangla, and English, has garnered attention by assisting more than 21 lakh farmers within just two months.
National Pest Surveillance System - A Boost for Crop Health
In a collaborative effort with the private sector, the Ministry is actively developing a National Pest Surveillance System utilizing AI and Machine Learning (ML) models. This system aims to detect crop issues promptly, providing farmers with timely information to take swift and effective action. The initiative is anticipated to lead to healthier crops, potentially boosting yields and improving farmers' livelihoods.
Tripartite MoU Signs a New Chapter in Agricultural Innovation
A Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Farmers’ Welfare Programme Implementation Society, IndiaAI under Digital India Corporation, and the Wadhwani Foundation, on January 17, 2024. This MoU signals a significant step towards fostering innovation and knowledge for a more prosperous and food-secure future.

The collaboration outlined in the MoU includes the establishment of an AI cell within the Ministry, marking a pivotal moment in India's agricultural landscape. This institutionalization of AI signifies the Ministry's commitment to driving digital agriculture transformation through technological innovation.
As per the MoU, the Wadhwani Foundation will play a crucial role in formulating and executing the AI strategy. The foundation is committed to supporting the Ministry in positioning India as a global leader in AI-driven digital agriculture transformation, aligning with the National Plan for AI outlined by the Ministry of Electronics & IT.
