Indian Oil’s state-of-the-art Technology Development & Deployment Centre was launched on 29th June by Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Steel Dharmendra Pradhan who was accompanied by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. It is the second Research and Development centre of Indian Oil. It is built over a 59-acre campus with a cost of Rs. 2282 crore.
The new campus includes a state of the art facility and labs. Research on alternative and clean fuels will also be conducted at the plant. The research domain will include catalysts, biotechnology, fuel cell, scale-up/pilot plants in petrochemicals, Hydrogen, gasification & solar energy research, semi-commercial nano-material production unit.
The minister said “The R&D Centre of Indian Oil has over the years blossomed into a state-of-the-art research institution for downstream petroleum R&D, focusing on indigenizing technologies and processes to suit Indian conditions. Indian Oil’s R&D Centre has contributed significantly towards Hon’ble Prime Minister’s dream of an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat.”
The minister also lauded the efforts of the Haryana government in helping in the completion of the centre. He said the state could be a leader in converting Agri waste into renewable sources of energy. He also urged the Indian oil to invest more in the state by initiating more waste energy disposables projects.
The minister said that even during pandemic India had been a leading supplier of medicines to the world and thus had provided the model to be Atma Nirbhar. He further said that India had to move towards renewable sources of energies to reduce its import of oil while at the same time encouraging the sector to make India a hub of the petrochemical industry in the world.
The Chief Minister said that Haryana was already a leader in sports and agriculture and now it is on the road to becoming a petrochemical leader also. He also said that houses were provided with LPG connections by the government to make Haryana a kerosene free state and a model in clean renewable and renewable energy for the country.
