The Prime Minister highlighted India's diverse food culture, attributing its richness to the hardworking farmers who are the backbone of the nation’s food ecosystem. He reiterated the government's support through policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the sector. PM Modi also underlined India’s efforts to set global benchmarks in innovation, sustainability, and food safety, citing various reforms over the last decade that have transformed the food processing industry. Initiatives such as 100% FDI in food processing, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, and the Production Linked Incentive scheme were mentioned as key drivers of this transformation.
At the event’s inauguration, a high-level CEO roundtable co-chaired by Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Minister of Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan focused on promoting investment and enhancing the ease of doing business. The event also witnessed the participation of over 100 industry leaders and senior officials from various ministries and state governments.
Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, who also addressed the gathering, emphasized India’s remarkable progress in food security, sustainability, and innovation. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring quality food for global consumers while supporting farmers through fair prices and access to modern technology.

Chirag Paswan stated that the 3rd edition of World Food India highlights India’s emergence as a global food processing leader, contributing to exports, employment, and farmer incomes. He also underscored the importance of global collaboration, innovation, and investment in shaping the future of the food industry, positioning India as a key player in the global market while fostering economic growth and environmental stewardship. The event showcases India’s resilience and transformation into a powerhouse of food processing, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and global collaboration.
A major highlight of the event was the inauguration of more than 50 food processing units supported by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) under various schemes, along with the disbursement of credit-linked subsidies to beneficiaries. Additionally, winners of the Startup Grand Challenge, aimed at promoting innovations in waste management and food processing, were awarded with financial and incubation support.
World Food India 2024, which runs from 19th to 22nd September at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, serves as a key platform for stakeholders across the agri-food sector to discuss investment opportunities, establish partnerships, and explore innovations. The event features more than 40 sessions and hosts participants from over 90 countries, making it a premier event for the global food processing industry. Japan is the event's Partner country, while Vietnam and Iran are Focus countries.
