Now consumers will not have to stand in long queues or make continuous rounds at ration depots. For the first time, India has come up with a one-of-its-kind 'Grain ATM' that will ensure the right quantity of food to the right beneficiary without any complaints.

The grain ATM has been set-up at Farukhnagar in Gurugram (Haryana) as a pilot project that will work on the lines of bank ATMs.

After Grain ATM installation, consumers will now get the direct benefit of this as they will no longer have to stand in long queues to receive food grains in front of government ration depots. Moreover, the complaints of irregularities in getting ration will also be stopped.

Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Dushyant Chautala said that by installing grain ATMs, along with saving the time of the public, they will be able to get ration in the right measure.

He further said that the main purpose of establishing Grain ATM is 'Right Quantity to Right Beneficiary' as this will eliminate the hassle of shortage of food grains at government depots.

The Deputy CM added that after the successful implementation of pilot project in Farrukhnagar, Gurugram, a plan has been made to install these types of food supply machines at government depots across the state.

What does Grain ATM do?

It is simply an automatic machine, which works similar to bank ATM. This ATM, to be installed under the United Nation's World Food Program, is know as Automated, Multi Commodity, Grain Dispensing Machine. Officer Ankit Sood said that the disturbance in the grain with this machine is negligible.

A biometric system along with touch screen has also been installed in this machine to bring food grains from this machine. Beneficiaries will have to enter the number of Aadhar, Ration Card. At the same time, 3 types of grains will be come out through the machine, which includes wheat, rice & millet.
