India's agricultural exports reached a record high of USD 50.21 billion during the fiscal year 2021-22. Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Trade and Industry, revealed the information in a written response to a question in the Lok Sabha on March 29.
The government stated that no export targets have been set for 2023-24. "A rise in agricultural exports enhances farmers' realizations and increases their income."
To guarantee that farmers benefit from exports, the government has launched a Farmer Connect Portal, which provides a platform for Farmer Producer Organizations/Companies (FPOs/FPCs) and cooperatives to directly communicate with exporters.
The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is the central organization in charge of agricultural and processed food product export promotion.
"APEDA has also worked with Indian Missions abroad to participate in numerous international trade fairs and exhibitions, as well as to organize virtual trade fairs, buyer-seller meetings, and export promotion of GI products."
In her response, the minister stated, "APEDA has also facilitated trial shipments for new products with export potential and for new destinations."
