Independence Day 2025: India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025, marking the completion of 78 years since the nation gained freedom from British colonial rule in 1947. This year will feature the 4th edition of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, encouraging every household to hoist the national flag.
Citizens participating in this year’s campaign have a chance to become Har Ghar Tiranga Ambassadors by sharing their Tiranga selfies online and earning badges and certificates from the Ministry of Culture. Here’s how.
Fourth Edition of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign was launched in 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative. Over the past three years, it has grown into a nationwide movement with citizens from diverse backgrounds joining in to hoist the national flag at their homes. The campaign aims to deepen the connection between Indians and their national flag by inspiring flag hoisting at every home. In 2025, it invites citizens to spread the spirit of the Tiranga by participating as ambassadors and sharing their pride digitally.
Har Ghar Tiranga Volunteer Programme
This Independence Day, Ministry of Culture’s Har Ghar Tiranga Volunteer Programme is actively involving citizens across the country to promote patriotism at the grassroots level. Volunteers will assist households in hoisting the flag correctly, distribute flags, share stories about the Tiranga, and encourage people to upload their flag selfies on the campaign portal.
Volunteers form the backbone of Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. By joining, individuals get the opportunity to promote national pride by encouraging every household to hoist the Tiranga. They help inspire civic participation and foster unity through shared celebrations. Being a volunteer also means becoming part of a historic people’s movement that strengthens India’s national identity. Additionally, volunteers receive official recognition from the Ministry of Culture for their valuable contributions.
