According to the lead author Tamlin Conner, who is senior lecturer at the University of Otago in Dublin, New Zealand, “our research has highlighted that the consumption of fruit and vegetables in their ‘unmodified’ state is more strongly associated with better mental health compared to cooked/canned/processed fruit and vegetables.” Also the cooked, canned and processed food reduces the nutrient value.  Another most important factor to be considered is the production and consumption of the produce.
