The Indian Micro-Fertilizers Manufacturers Association (IMMA) is set to host the second edition of the IMMA B2G Roundtable on 2nd August 2025 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Themed “Innovate, Regulate, Elevate: Shaping India’s Fertilizer Future,” this landmark event brings together stakeholders from government, industry, and research institutions to collaboratively address urgent policy and regulatory reforms for India’s non-subsidized fertilizer sector.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, state regulators, IMMA member companies, and technical experts, will engage in a series of six thematic sessions covering:

  • Innovative Fertilizers and Quality Control in Non-Subsidized Micronutrients and Specialty Fertilizers

  • Voluntary Anti-Counterfeiting Measures by IMMA Member Companies

  • Central Licence Portal and Ease of Doing Business Reforms

  • Aligning Bio-stimulants Regulation with On-Ground Realities

  • Decriminalization of Non-Subsidized Fertilizer Laws

  • Liberalized Import-Export Policy for Non-Subsidized Fertilizers

“This roundtable is not just a dialogue but a decisive step toward fair & firm regulation to govern India’s non-subsidized fertilizer sector,” said Dr. Rahul Mirchandani, President, IMMA.

“By transitioning from outdated compliance regimes to digitally enabled, farmer-centric innovation policies, we aim to position India as the global hub for sustainable nutrient solutions.”

Adding to this, Sameer Pathare, Vice President, IMMA, noted:

“Our goal is to empower genuine manufacturers while ensuring farmers have access to quality, authentic products through traceable and transparent systems.”

“We urge policymakers to act swiftly on the practical reforms being tabled, especially those that unlock India’s export potential.”

Further, Dr. Rahul Mirchandani, President, IMMA highlighted the following points:

On the need for dynamic, soil-responsive fertilizer formulations:

“Static, state-notified grades are relics of the past. Farmers today need agile, multi-nutrient blends based on real-time soil health data.”

On leading the discussion on anti-counterfeiting, he said:

“Voluntary smart labeling and QR-coded traceability are essential to protecting brand credibility and farmer trust in the face of rising counterfeit threats.”

He will also present the roadmap for the central licensing portal:

“A faceless, digital, and unified national licensing platform will save crores annually and fast-track innovative products to market.”

Sameer Pathare, Vice President, IMMA, added for championing decriminalization reforms:

“We must stop treating non-subsidized fertilizers like essential commodities. It’s time to shift from punitive enforcement to proportionate, risk-based compliance.”

On advocating for India’s role as a global fertilizer powerhouse:

“With global demand rising, India's high-efficiency micronutrients and specialty fertilizers deserve a fast-lane to international markets.”

The day-long event will conclude with an open forum and roadmap presentation to the Government of India, summarizing consensus-based industry recommendations.
