India Meteorological Department has warned that there is a risk of landslides and damage to horticultural crops due to inundation in the affected regions triggered by heavy rains and floods. The IMD advised farmers in the affected areas to ensure proper drainage in fields and provide support to crops.
It has also warned of potential localised flooding, road closures, and waterlogging, particularly in urban areas. The Met Office warned of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan because of deep depression, besides in Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra over the next two to three days.
It said another low-pressure area, located over Bangladesh and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, is likely to intensify further and move towards Gangetic West Bengal, north Odisha, and Jharkhand over the next two days causing heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the next two days.
The IMD also advised fisherfolk to avoid venturing into the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal as there was the possibility of rough to very rough sea conditions.
